Located
on the edge of the Badlands in SW South Dakota,
the Stoddard Ranch was started
in 1918 when Herb and Inez Stoddard
moved to the eastern edge of the Pine Ridge
Indian Reservation.
This area is known for the good hard grass and rugged
terrain which grows hardy, sure footed cattle and horses.
Today,
the third, fourth and fifth generations of the Stoddard Ranch family
are still
raising good feeder cattle and using-type horses,
which are raised with speed,
cow sense, good bone, endurance,
and good disposition as their selected
traits. Most of their neighbors
are using some of the 'Stoddard
Horses'.
